Durante estas navidades y época de fin de año, deseo de todo corazón, que pasen los mejores momentos al lado de sus familiares y amigos; del mismo modo, espero que reciban todo cuanto desean y que disfruten al máximo este tiempo de vacaciones.

Sin embargo...como tendrán suficiente tiempo libre, es importante que no olviden que al regresar hay ciertas cositas con las cuales acordamos, debían cumplir:
1. 6A debe terminar de leer " El pais de los días eternos" desde el capítulo , los trillizos, hasta el final del texto.
2. Ambos deben continuar la lectura de "Orfeo, Sísifo y Cía" - Desde Prometeo, para aquellos no lo leyeron por ausentarse en la última semana de clase- hasta el final de Atalanta.
3. Recueden que durante la primera semana de clase tendrán algunos exámenes y pequeñas evaluaciones. Cada día tiene su temática asignada y sólo necesitan estudiar del Power Point que se les envió por correo a aquellos que diligentemente me lo dieron a conecer enviándolo a tquinones@altamira.edu.co.

Aprovecho además para recordar que estamos terminando el texto "El país de los días eternos" el cual se ha leído en clase para los estudiantes y seguiremos con Orfeo, Sísifo y Cía. De venta en la librería nacional. Para la segunda parte del trimestre el texto del plan lector es " Amigos Robot" este no está disponible en ninguna librería , y como se les informó con antelación, 36 ejemplares estuvieron a disposición para su compra en el colegio desde el martes 1 de Diciembre. El representante de la editorial los recogió el pasado miércoles 9 de Diciembre en vista de que en dos oportunidades se han consignado libros en el colegio y a la fecha límite sólo se han sido vendidos 2 o 3 textos. Nuevamente, pongo en su conocimiento, que estos dos últimos textos se tendrán en cuenta para el diseño de la evaluación trimestral.

Durante esta primera parte del trimestre estaremos desarrollando el logro correspondiente al estándar de literatura y comprensión. Conoceremos el valor literario y cultural que tienen narraciones como el mito y la leyenda en la historia de pueblos y civilizaciones. Además cómo, en el caso de las fábulas, el escritor de manera creativa da lugar a la reflexión, convirtiendo a estas piezas literarias en un espejo de virtudes y defectos humanos. Dentro de las estrategias utilizadas para comprender de manera literal y a profundidad la intención de los elementos narrativos utilizaremos: esquemas gráficos, la glosa y la selección de ideas importantes.
Adicionalmente, estaremos leyendo los textos del plan lector “Orfeo, Sísifo y Cía” y “Amigos Robot” por lo cual solicitamos la colaboración de los padres en adquirirlos prontamente; el primero, en la librería Nacional o Panamericana; el segundo, estará a la venta en el colegio hasta el día 10 de diciembre por un valor de 26.000 pesos. Recuerde que estos textos son importantes a fin de que puedan ser trabajados en clase y el estudiante no se vea afectado en sus evaluaciones.

Estimados padres de familia:

Este lunes 23 de Noviembre se llevará a cabo la semifinal de los proyectos de la feria de la ciencia en Combarranquilla Sede Norte.

Los niños deben llegar a las 7:10 am con sus displays al Centro de Convenciones ubicados en el segundo piso.

Los estudiantes deben llevar su merienda y almuerzo en su lonchera o en su defecto, dinero para comprar en la cafetería. Está prohibido por parte de Combarranquilla el ingreso de alimentos por parte de los padres o cualquier domicilio.

Está prohibido ingresar ipods o cualquier equipo electrónico. En el caso de necesitar portátiles para la presentación deben enviar el número del serial vía email a Gabriel Delgado, a más tardar el sábado para el control de los equipos:

Además del taller de math, deben repasar los problemas de fracciones y decimales que aparecen en el cuaderno.
No olviden estudiar todos los vocabularios de Science, que aparecen en el cuaderno y profundizar los temas que aparecen en el resumen.

This information will help you determine your variables, create your hypothesis and begin working on your project.

WHAT IS THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD?


Scientific Method is the process of thinking through possible solutions to a problem and testing each possibility to find the best solution. It is the “tool” that scientists use to find answers to questions.

There are FIVE STEPS to follow the Scientific Method:

1. Observe and ask questions: Be curious, research and select a question to be answered by the experiment. How, What, When, Who, Which, Why, or Where?

2. Form a Hypothesis: A hypothesis is a statement that tells what will happen and why. It must be testable. “If __________ (I do this) __________, then________ (this) _________ will happen.”

3. Plan an Experiment: You have to test your hypothesis through an experiment. Think in the variables:

The independent variable is the variable you purposely manipulate (change).

The dependent variable is the variable that is being observed, which changes in response to the independent variable.

The controlled variable is the variable that do not change.


EXAMPLE: Under which conditions plants grow better: water, milk or orange juice?

* Independent Variable - Water, milk, orange juice

* Dependent variable - Water helps my plant grow

* Controlled Variable - Pot, plants, sun

4. Conduct an experiment: Carry out the experiment. Remember to record everything you do.

5. Drawing Conclusions and Communicate Results: The project conclusion is a summary of the results of the project experiments and a statement of how the results relate to the hypothesis. To complete your Science Fair Project you will communicate your results to others in a final report and the display board.

Les recuerdo que el próximo 6 de Noviembre es el último día para entregar el reporte escrito en inglés (written report), de los proyectos para la Feria de la Ciencia, 3 copias físicas y 1 copia por medio magnético. Deben escribir cada paso en hoja diferente.

El REPORTE ESCRITO DEBE CONTENER LOS SIGUIENTES PASOS EN HOJA DIFERENTE:

1. COVER PAGE: Portada con un título breve, claro y atractivo.

2. INDEX: Índice con la numeración ordenada de los contenidos del trabajo.

3. SUMMARY: Breve resumen que describe los pasos de la investigación.

4. PROBLEM QUESTION: Pregunta problema que NO debe ser contestada con un sí o nó.

5. OBJECTIVES: Objetivos generales que deben desprenderse del problema.

6. HYPOTHESIS: Lo que creemos que va a suceder. Siempre debe comenzar con:

If ____________, then ______________ Si (esto sucede)___, después (cuál es el efecto)…….

7. EXPERIMENT IN PROGRESS:

a. Materials: Materiales utilizados

b. Procedure: Descripción de cada paso del experimento.

c. Data Collection: Recolección de datos, por ejemplo lo que pasó el primer día, el segundo día,

o en la mañana, en la tarde, etc.

d. Photos and Graphics: Fotos y gráficos (si los hay).

e. Results: Resultados obtenidos.

8. CONCLUSION: Constituye la respuesta que propone el investigador para el problema que originó la investigación. Conclusión del experimento.
