CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOU DID IT!!!

In groups of 3, six graders had a contest to review the comparisson of fractions. Using some greater than and less than flags, the students compared different pairs of fractions, finding equivalent fractions with the same denominators. The prices were 2 dollars for each winner.

Students did a research about each kingdom of life: plants, animals, protists, bacterias and fungus. Using information and pictures from the internet, they summarized and prepared an oral presentation for each kingdom.

CONGRATULATIONS, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!

COMPARING FRACTIONS:

In order to compare 2 fractions with different denominators, we must find 2 equivalent fractions with the same denominator, by finding the Least Common Denominator between them.

EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS ARE FRACTIONS THAT HAVE THE SAME VALUE:

The students identify the different traits and needs of all organisms, by cutting from magazines different examples and pasting them on cardboards to form collages.

Felicitamos a nuestro personero Juan David Echeverría, elegido por los estudiantes de primaria la semana pasada.

Igualmente queremos reconocer el gran trabajo realizado por María José Jamette, postulada igualmente como personera de primaria.

FELICIDADES!!!!!!

For our first Science Quiz you must study:

LIVING THINGS:

  • Vocabulary # 1
  • Traits and needs of organisms
  • Vocabulary # 2
  • 6 kingdoms of life

Study from your notebook. Good luck!!

The School will be celebrating Love & Friendship Day as a spirit day on Friday 18. Students may come to school wearing jeans and red T-Shirt following the school’s code.

SIXTH A : REMEMBER TO BRING THE GIFT FOR YOUR SECRET FRIEND.

DEAR STUDENTS:

DON'T FORGET TO BRING MONEY TOMORROW FOR THE SCHOOL'S BAKE SALE.

MISS SANDRI.

JUAN PABLO GRANDE - 6B

CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR EXCELLENT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!

The Venn Diagram is one of the most basic graphic organizers currently used to compare and contrast characteristics of 2 concepts, ideas or words. Six graders used this strategy to find the GCF of sets of numbers and were able to visualize the similar and different attributes of them.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!

VIVIANA MARTÍNEZ - 6A

MARIANNA SARMIENTO - 6B

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! YOU SHINE!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember that in order to take a fraction to it's simplest form or to the lowest term, we have to find out first the GCF between the numerator and denominator. The next step is to divide both the numerator and the denominator into the GCF.

When the GCF between the numerator and the denominator is 1 the fraction has been taken to it's simplest form or to the lowest term.

In the following link you will find exercises for you to practice:
